The project aimed to the development of the Rural Development Programme incl. the development of implementation procedures for support measures, training and study visits to increase the technical capacity of staff. The work included the development of background studies and analysis as well as a thorough ex ante assessment for the use of financial instruments.

Vocational Training of semi subsistence farmers
Trainings were implemented in four development regions of Romania (Botosani, Bacau & Neamt, Suceava and Iasi) in the frame of “Vocational training, information and dissemination of knowledge”, to increase the technical skills of semi subsistence farmers regarding market orientation, income generation from agricultural and non-agricultural activities. In total more than 4,000 farmers were trained.

Vocational Training of young farmers
Trainings were implemented in three development regions of Romania in the frame of “Vocational training, information and dissemination of knowledge”, to increase the technical skills of young farmers and to enhance rejuvenation of the agricultural sector. Each farmer received 10 day training courses incl. practical training sessions. In total 2,900 young farmers were trained.

Training of staff involved in the implementation of Rural Development programme and Fishery Operational Programme 2007-2013
A series of trainings was organised and implemented based on a detailed training needs analysis to increase the capacity of staff of paying agencies and the managing authority for an efficient implementation of rural development support measures. Best practice examples from other EU Member States were presented and adapted to local circumstances.
