Introduction of Cross Compliance
The activities related to the introduction of a well-functioning Cross Compliance system for direct payments and area based rural development measures lasted several years from first awareness raising of involved staff  to the establishment of an obligatory farm advisory service. Several information brochures for farmers on Cross Compliance were developed. The technical work included significant contributions to the set-up of a thorough sanctioning and control system for Cross Compliance. Staff of the Paying Agency was trained and study visits were organised to get to know the Cross Compliance system in other EU Member States.
